CREATIVE FEMINIST MINISTERS: Education, Training, and Networking
A WATER Institute
WATER office, Silver Spring, MD
Feminist ministers need education and training that seminaries and theological schools simply do not provide because of their patriarchal biases. They also need the company of other women to test out ideas, share experiences, and figure out next steps in their own ministry. WATER is beginning a series of programs designed to train women in ministry in feminist approaches to the pastoral arts. Our work will presume that systemic injustices including racism, economic oppression, colonialism, sexism, and heterosexism have shaped most theological curricula. We aim to replace those ideologies with Earth-loving, inclusive, social justice approaches that put the needs of women and dependent children at the heart of what we do. On-line resources will augment the in-person program.
Details: WATER is Metro accessible (Red Line) in Silver Spring, Maryland. Housing is available in local hotels with the possibility of home stays.
Sponsor: WATER (Women’s Alliance for Theology, Ethics, and Ritual
Costs: to be announced (will include tuition and some meals)
