DESCRIPTION:It’s time to make plans to join us October 3-4\, 2019 at Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church in Durham\, NC\, for the 8th annual Homegrown: NC Women’s Preaching Festival. \nOur Vision: We believe hundreds of Christian clergywomen in North Carolina are faithfully and creatively engaging in ministries where they proclaim the Word of God\, week after week. In an ecumenical spirit of love and collegiality\, we will lift up the voices of local clergywomen to encourage and inspire; share and learn; and to hone our craft. Together we will hear wonderful preaching from conference attendees and have time for group conversations on the art of proclamation in all its forms. We will pray\, eat\, worship\, and celebrate together. \nThis year’s preachers and presenters include Mia McClain\, Dana Cassell\, CeCee Mills\, Margie Quinn\, Tamara Franks\, Rose Wright-Scott\, and more to be announced! In addition to this incredible line-up\, we are excited about the gifts and wisdom\, joys and challenges that each of you bring to this festival every year. DESCRIPTION:From an opening reception\, to vibrant worship\, to insightful workshops\, to intentional conversations\, this year’s Homegrown: NC Women’s Preaching Festival will live into the theme “Her Voice Through the Generations” as we honor the voices of the generations of women that began at the empty tomb and continue through today. Our featured preachers and presenters include Rev. Yvonne Delk\, the first African-American woman ordained in the United Church of Christ\, and Rev. Jerusha Neal\, Assistant Professor of Homiletics at Duke Divinity School\, and others. \nWhile we aren’t really about big names\, fancy titles\, or “experts\,” we are about academic study\, the creative arts\, diversity\, intentional relationships\, and preaching. Mostly\, we are about YOU! The gifts and wisdom\, joys and challenges\, you bring to this festive learning community for two days are the heart of who we are.
