SUMMARY:Holistic Enneagram Series: A Spirituality of Head\, Heart\, and Body
DESCRIPTION:What would you say if I told you that you have more than one brain—that your heart and your gut both have their own intrinsic nervous systems? They have neurons that can take on information\, store it\, change\, and adapt. Your head\, heart\, and gut are the components of your human mind\, and the Enneagram can help you better listen to all of them. Join other women and nonbinary folks under 40 for this four-week class (July 11\, 18\, 25\, Aug 1\, Thursdays\, 7-9pm) that will cover: \nTriads and Resource Points\nBecome aware of the multiple triads and resource points in the Enneagram system that distinguish and nuance each personality type. \nEgo Defense Mechanisms and Body-based Character Structure\nLearn more about the defense mechanisms of each type\, that acts as the “glue” that supports the personality structure. Recognize how the defense mechanisms are all based in the lead center of intelligence for that type. \nInstinctual Subtypes: Self-Preservation\, Sexual\, Social\nAt first glance\, there are 9 Enneagram Types\, but an awareness of subtypes indicates there are three unique expressions of each of the 9 types\, totaling 27 ways of moving through the world. This class can assist those who are having a hard time claiming their own type. \nDeepening Spiritual Awareness\nThis final session is an experiential course that offers spiritual practices to transform your own type structure and help you build an inner capacity to recognize and relax your emotional passions as they arise – thus “converting vice to virtue.” \nLeader: The Rev. Adrienne Koch is the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina’s Young Adult Missioner and Campus Minister for the Raleigh Area and a spiritual formation leader at Duke Divinity School. She has studied under teachers in the Narrative Tradition of the Enneagram for the last 7 years to become a spiritual director where she uses the Enneagram as a guide for spiritual transformation and renewal. \nAdrienne received her B.A. in Liberal Arts from Malone University in Ohio in 2004\, with concentrations in Theology\, Psychology\, and Communications\, and completed her M.Div. with a certificate of Gender\, Theology\, and Ministry from Duke Divinity School. She completed a two-year non-degree Anglican program for Theological Studies at Sewanee in TN\, and a chaplain residency at the VA Health Care System in Durham where she was part of a fellowship program that provided emotional intelligence simulations for medical professionals. Adrienne and her wife\, Jennifer\, reside in Raleigh with their son and yellow lab. \nCost: $75. Some scholarships available. Includes tuition and snacks. The workshop location at TAPC is wheelchair accessible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any accessibility questions or needs. Contact meghan@rcwms.org.

SUMMARY:The Ministry of Black Women's Self-Care
DESCRIPTION:Self-care is often the component that remains a form of intervention (after the break or the medical emergency) rather than a preventative measure. When we allow our bodies\, minds and/or spirits to break down in the course of doing this work\, we are not only putting ourselves at risk but we are putting at risk the integrity of the work for which we are laboring. This work is a work of self-love\, communal love\, Womanist Ethicism\, it is multi-generational\, multicultural and is not finite\, but is instead as infinite as the beauty in the divinity that is Blackness. Come and share in this life’s work! This program is specifically designed to offer practical tools for everyday self-care to Black women-identified individuals doing all forms of ministry\, in church and community. \nLeader: Kimberly Gaubault (McCrae) is an intentional lover of humanity and actively lives the self-care life about which she teaches and advocates. Her personal philosophy of interpersonal interaction is\, “If I’ve not positively influenced someone everywhere I’ve gone\, I’ve not walked in my purpose.” \nCost: $10-40\, sliding scale. Scholarships available! \nContact: events@rcwms.org
