Weaving feminism & spirituality into a vision of justice for the world
Join Laurel for the first full reading of her short story “That Other Story,” winner of the Thomas Wolfe Fiction Prize, in which Tomby, a young Marine, risks entering an off-limits dive that turns out to be far more risky than he’d imagined.
The story became a chapter in her novel-in-progress, “Art of the Sextant” (working title), a tale of seeking belonging and home.
Leader: Laurel is a writer and independent editor with publications of fiction, memoir, essays, and poetry. “That Other Story” is published in the Thomas Wolfe Review (vol. 36) and served as the writing sample for her Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artist Award from the Durham Arts Council.
