Self-Care and the Nine Enneagram Types with Sandra Smith

March 4, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

$35.00 – $65.00

Self-care seems to get bad publicity, at least in our minds and especially for women. Often, we hear inner narratives suggesting that “Self-care is selfish.”  “I don’t need to indulge myself.”  Yet, self-care isn’t indulgence nor is it selfish. It is an act of kindness toward ourselves, an honoring of ourselves, a claiming of our worth. What would you name as your barriers to caring for yourself?

Each Enneagram type has particular inner narratives that resist attending to self. This is usually associated with the type’s idealized self and defense mechanism. During our time together, we’ll engage in dyad inquiry, small group discussion, as we explore our own challenges to self-care. Self-reflection on a next step or a kindness practice will be woven into the workshop.

Participants will need a working knowledge of their Enneagram type to receive the most from this three-hour workshop. In preparation for this workshop, participants are encouraged to create a “retreat-like” space around their computer.

In this three-hour workshop, participants with some familiarity with the Enneagram are invited to bring their questions about the Enneagram along with an openness and  desire to grow.

Facilitator Sandra Smith, MDiv, is a Certified Narrative Enneagram teacher and an IEA (International Enneagram Association) Accredited Professional. For over 20 years, Sandra has taught the Enneagram internationally as a tool for personal, professional and spiritual development. She serves as a mentor/supervisor for those seeking certification in the Enneagram Professional Training Program.

Sandra co-created and co-hosts the podcast, Heart of the Enneagram, with her colleague Chris Copeland, that explores dimensions of the nine unique Enneagram perspectives through interviewing guests of all nine types. Since its release, the podcast has over 350,000 downloads in 80 countries. She co-authored the podcast companion book: Heart of the Enneagram: A Companion for Deepening Personal and Spiritual Growth.
