Weaving feminism & spirituality into a vision of justice for the world
“This is the secret of our path: gentleness and flexibility bring the
results that force and rigidity fail to achieve. Our true benefit lies
not in our words or arguments, but in the depth of our practice.”
-From the Tao te Ching
Join us at the beautiful and nourishing setting of the 50-acre Avila Center for an extended day retreat as we explore together with words, breath, mindful movement, and silence, essential tenets of Taoist thought. These include direct experience of the present moment, letting go, flexibility, effortlessness, and the next step.
Our facilitator for the day will be Jim Dykes, MD, a lifelong student and practitioner of Taoism. Jim worked for many years as an integrative family physician before retiring to answer a call to farming. His Hundred Acre Wood Farm and Sanctuary is his passion and joy, and he seldom wanders far from it.
Location: Avila Center, 711 Mason Road, Durham
Cost: Equity: $30; Standard: $45; Pay It Forward: $60
Though Core Catering has closed, our favorite chef Pat Eder will provide a delicious and nutritional boxed meal.
