Weaving feminism & spirituality into a vision of justice for the world
“The core concern of this life stage, with all of its perils and pleasures, is how to cultivate resilient responses to the challenges we face. Resilience is built by attention and intention. We can take responsibility for our attitudes and focus on our strengths and our joys. We can go deep and face truth squarely. We can learn the skills that allow us to adapt to anything. Yes, anything.”
–Mary Pipher, Women Rowing North: Navigating Life’s Currents and Flourishing as We Age
In her groundbreaking book, Women Rowing North, Mary Pipher offers a timely examination of cultural and developmental issues women face as they transition from middle age to old age.
Join Lisa Baron for a small group discussion of Pipher’s book and the ways in which we can all “cultivate resilient responses to challenges we face.” If there is interest, Lisa is willing to continue the discussion in the form of an ongoing support group, based on ideas in this important book.
Please read the book before coming to the workshop. It is available from local bookstores, in an audio version (Audible) and on Kindle.
Leader: Lisa Baron, skilled group facilitator, is a social worker, therapist, and writer; she co-led the program for “How Did I Get Here and Where Am I Going?” and led the “Coffee and Conversation” series for RCWMS in 2020.
