Every summer we ask you to support the work of this vibrant womanist and feminist community. Although many things are different this summer, I know one thing hasn’t changed: your generosity.
This spring, when the stay-at-home orders began, we knew this community would need extra spiritual support and methods for connecting with one another. We’d been accustomed to offering that in person, but I’m proud of our staff for quickly adapting to online programming while juggling their day-to-day lives in the pandemic. Your gifts have enabled us to offer a wide variety of virtual classes, from mindfulness and lovingkindness meditation to Enneagram study and writing workshops. We plan to continue these virtual offerings for as long as necessary to ensure everyone’s health and safety.
In the midst of this work, we know that throughout our country’s history everyone’s health and safety has not been valued equally. Today Black and Brown people are at greater risk of suffering and dying from Covid, as well as from police violence. As a predominantly white organization, it has been part of our mission in recent years to provide space and training for white people to unpack their own racism and discover a path to becoming more anti-racist. Your gifts will help us continue this work with a renewed sense of urgency. We are also committed to examining and addressing unconscious bias and practices within RCWMS.
If you are in a position to donate to RCWMS, we will be very grateful for your support. Please also give to Black-led organizations and to groups meeting immediate, physical, community needs.
Now is the time for change. Together, we can make this world better.
